The Experience China – A Symphony of Stories on China-US People-to-People Friendship was held in Washington DC on Aug 27. It was an important civilian exchange to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, highlighting the future of the friendship between China and the United States.

This event combined symphony music with immersive storytelling to recount the difficult times when the Chinese and US people fought side by side against Japanese fascism. A photo exhibition at the event presented past memories. With more than 300 pieces of photos and text evidence, along with 12 video records, it showcased key historical events such as the Nanjing Massacre and the Flying Tigers' aid to China.

The storytelling segments featured descendants of those involved and precious relics, bringing to life the tales of friendship and bravery. Beginning with the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra playing a stirring piece from The Yellow River Cantata, the story session used a mix of historical reenactments, descendants' narratives, and precious artifacts to tell five stories of friendship across time. Experts from the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall and the grandson of the only dynamic image recorder of the Nanjing Massacre shared a "dialogue of lenses". The dark mutual aid in Weihsien concentration camp in Shandong highlighted humanity.

Additionally, a 1937 US cent coin revealed a thrilling rescue in 1942. The journey of a Flying Tigers C-47 transport plane showed Sino-US military cooperation. Finally, descendants from the Flying Tigers Hospital played Auld Lang Syne on a 90-year-old harmonica, symbolizing enduring Sino-US wartime camaraderie.
